FAQ
What exactly is Inner Authority?”
Inner Authority is leading yourself from your own deep inner knowing, not what a boss, a government, or another certification. It’s what Dr. Robert Kegan would call the Self-Authoring Mind. It’s the calm, grounded center beneath the noise — what Internal Family Systems (IFS) calls Self, and what many ancient traditions point to as your truest nature. This method helps you access and live from that place — every day.
Will we meet before we gather in person?
We will meet once on Zoom to meet online, share intentions for the trip, and answer any questions you may have.
Is this therapy?
No. While the method is informed by therapeutic frameworks like Internal Family Systems (IFS), this is not therapy. This is a coaching and leadership development process designed to help you lead yourself and your life more clearly. If you're in active crisis or need trauma support, therapy is the more appropriate path.
What if I can’t make every call?”
To preserve confidentiality, no calls will be recorded. The real magic comes from showing up consistently — for yourself and for the men beside you.
Will I get 1-on-1 time with you?”
Every session includes laser coaching and live hot seats. Not every man is coached every session, but every session is designed so that you get what you came for — whether you’re in the hot seat or witnessing someone else’s breakthrough. That said, you’ll always have access to post questions and reflections inside our private group.
How is this different from other men’s groups?”
Many men’s groups focus on surface-level check-ins or vague “warrior energy” talk. This one goes deeper. It’s structured, soulful, and psychologically sound. You won’t be shouting in the woods — you’ll be learning how to lead from your deepest center and change the way you move through your relationships, work, and legacy.
What kind of men join this?”
Men who are already carrying a lot — founders, fathers, leaders, creatives. They're men who’ve achieved success but want their inner world to match the outer. They’re tired of doing it alone and want a space that’s real, deep, and guided with integrity
What if I’ve done personal development work already?”
Perfect. This isn’t your first step — it’s your next one. Many men in the group have done therapy, coaching, or spiritual work before. The Inner Authority Method builds on what you already know — and helps you embody it in daily leadership, decision-making, conflict, and legacy.
Is this faith-based?”
This is a spiritually-informed but non-dogmatic program. Men of all (or no) belief systems are welcome — as long as you’re willing to meet yourself honestly and lead from within.
How do I know if this is the right time?”
If part of you already knows — and another part is trying to talk you out of it — you’re in the right place. We’ll teach you how to lead from the voice within that knows, not the one that avoids. You don’t have to be ready. You just have to be willing.
What happens if I don’t do this?
You’ll probably keep carrying it all the same way — with a little more exhaustion each month. This work isn’t about urgency. It’s about truth. If you're feeling called, honor the call.
About Mark Guay
Mark Guay is an Integral Certified Coach and IFS practitioner with over 15 years of experience guiding business leaders to peak performance and personal growth in a way that aligns mind, body, and soul. As an adoptee and survivor of childhood domestic violence, he leads with this approach: To really change our lives, we must heal the past and embrace the unknown. To do this, we need self-accountability, the courage to take decisive action, a community of support, and trust that doors will appear, leading us on our path.
In addition to his coaching roles, Mark is an entrepreneur in the social impact space. He helped found a direct-trade coffee roaster in San Diego and created a series of mindfulness-based online courses that have impacted over 1 million leaders and entrepreneurs worldwide.
Mark holds a Master’s Degree in Education and is a member of Integral Coaching Canada, the International Coaching Federation, and the European Mentor and Coaching Council.
